Intervention

Intervention

An intervention is a significant but loving and effective way to make an addict aware of the seriousness of his or her problem and an invitation to accept help.

In many cases, the addict does not yet realize that things cannot continue as they are. It may also be that the addict wants to tackle the problem but does not know how to ask for help. In some cases, the addict recognizes the problem but has already given up hope of a different way of life.

The addict is often convinced that those around them do not understand their addiction.

How does an intervention work?

An intervention process is always initiated by someone from the addict’s family, circle of friends, or business associates. We approach the addicted person in a loving and respectful way.

During an intervention, we confront the addict with the adverse effects of his or her addiction and behavior. We highlight the consequences of the addiction for the addict himself/herself and for those close to him/her.

In doing so, we emphasize the fact that the consequences and damage for both the addict and their loved ones will continue to grow if the active addiction is maintained.

“A loving and effective way to make an addict aware”

The goal of an intervention

An addiction will increasingly influence life and social connections. It starts small, but the problems grow until there comes a point when it is no longer possible to continue.

With the intervention, we try to make it clear to the addict that he or she does not have to continue living this way, that there is hope and help. A choice is offered to enter treatment, during which the possible treatment options are discussed and explained in more detail.

I then support the loved ones in understanding the addiction and realizing the behavioral change that is necessary to regain control of their own lives. I guide them in breaking free from the addiction’s hold on them.

A safe environment for recovery

In an intervention process, we take joint action to bring about change. To do this, complete honesty, openness, and willingness are essential. I therefore guarantee absolute discretion during our sessions in order to create a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment for both the addict and their loved ones.
